A traveling tribute to the past: a limited edition full of essence

Mas Pòlit 450 Anniversary is a special edition wine that celebrates the 450 years of history of the Mas Pòlit estate, located in Vilamaniscle, in the heart of the DO Empordà. This exceptional reference represents a bridge between tradition, territory, and sustainability — a wine with the soul of a historic legacy.

Origin and legacy: four and a half centuries of vineyards

The estate’s history begins in 1572, when Antoni Heras acquired it. In 1632, the property passed to his grandson, Hipòlit Heras, and since then it has been known as Mas Pòlit.

The current vineyards — about eight hectares cultivated organically — grow on slate soils, which provide a mineral character to the wines. The commitment to sustainability is total: the new winery, inaugurated in 2017, is energy self-sufficient and uses recyclable materials and lightweight glass. All with a vision toward the future.

The wine — Mas Pòlit 450: blend and meticulous production

Format and grapes

Harvest: 2022, estate vineyards (Vilamaniscle / DO Empordà).
Limited edition: only 600 bottles.
Varieties: Garnacha Tinta (60%), Cabernet Sauvignon (25%), Syrah (15%).

Harvest and vinification

The harvest is manual, with selection in the vineyard and collection in small boxes. Vinification is carried out with long maceration and controlled fermentation at 25 °C, with two daily pump-overs to extract complexity and structure.

Aging and bottling

The wine spends 12 months in fine-grain French oak barrels, and later rests in the bottle. Bottling took place in April 2024 using a 75 cl “antique” Bordeaux bottle and an extra natural cork stopper.

Sensory profile and pairing

Tasting notes

Color: intense purple with blackcurrant reflections.
Nose: deep aromas of vanilla, coconut, and barrel smoke, with candied fruit and the freshness typical of Cabernet Sauvignon.
Palate: fine and elegant wine, with moderate tannins and notable persistence. Prominent freshness and a long mineral finish.

Recommended pairing

Ideal with dishes such as mountain rice, red meats, lamb shoulder, or nuts. Serve between 15–17 °C.

The launch event and the wine’s narrative

The official launch took place on March 27, 2025, at the Vilamaniscle winery. The day brought together specialized press, sommeliers, restaurateurs, and wine lovers.

Winemaker Carles Playà conducted the guided tasting, highlighting the character of Mas Pòlit 450. Josep Lluís Iglesias, project manager and family descendant, emphasized the Empordà vineyard as a cultural and economic driver.

A commemorative video was also screened, available on the winery’s social media, showcasing the history, landscape, and values of Mas Pòlit.
