Sustainability at Mas Pòlit is not a marketing strategy or a recent trend. It is a way of working that is part of the winery’s identity. The relationship with the land is direct, close, and conscious. Each plot is treated as a living ecosystem that must be preserved to guarantee the future of the vineyard and the landscape.

Organic viticulture helps maintain the natural balance of the soil and promotes biodiversity. For this reason, the winery does not use chemical pesticides or aggressive herbicides. Work in the vineyard is done manually and respectfully, always seeking to preserve soil health and grape quality.

This approach results in more expressive, authentic wines that are truer to the territory. The outcome is wines with their own identity, capable of conveying the landscape of Empordà in every glass.

Organic viticulture in Empordà: a unique territory

Empordà is a territory with exceptional characteristics for organic vine cultivation. The Mediterranean climate, the influence of the sea, and the constant presence of the Tramontana wind create ideal conditions for obtaining high-quality grapes with minimal chemical intervention.

Mas Pòlit’s vineyards are located in mountain vineyard areas, between the Cap de Creus Natural Park and the Serra de l’Albera. This privileged environment allows the production of sustainable mountain vineyard DO Empordà wine, with great aromatic expression and a marked mineral personality.

The slate and llicorella soils force the vine to work harder to find nutrients and water. This natural difficulty generates more limited but higher quality yields, with very high aromatic concentration.

The Tramontana also plays a fundamental role. This dry, intense wind helps keep the vineyard healthy naturally, reducing humidity and the proliferation of fungal diseases.

All of this makes it possible to produce Empordà slate-llicorella terroir wines with a unique identity deeply linked to the landscape.

An organic winery with reduced environmental impact

Mas Pòlit’s sustainability is not limited solely to vineyard work. The environmental commitment is also present in the winery and in the production processes.

The project is committed to a responsible and efficient production model, aimed at minimizing environmental impact. One of the most notable examples is the use of solar energy, which reduces conventional energy consumption and lowers the carbon footprint.

This philosophy makes the project a true organic D.O. Empordà winery with reduced environmental impact.

Efficient resource management, respect for biodiversity, and waste reduction are all part of a work model consistent with the territory’s values.

Artisanal viticulture and limited production

Mas Pòlit is also an example of an Empordà family winery with artisanal viticulture. Manual work and constant attention to the vineyard allow every detail to be cared for throughout the vegetative cycle.

Pruning, yield control, and harvesting are done based on quality criteria, not mass production. This way of working requires more effort and dedication, but it results in grapes with greater balance and complexity.

Limited production is a natural consequence of this philosophy. Each bottle is the result of a slow, respectful process deeply connected to the territory.
